Description: The trio sonata is the model for the earliest three works here (1731 and c.1745) while Wq 74, though originally another trio sonata, was recast as a two-instrument sonata. The large-scale Wq 76 of 1763 dates from just before Bach's series of four great keyboard and violin sonatas which marked a new formal and expressive departure in the genre.
