Description: Dupré turned Liszt's towering organ masterpiece into an organ concerto on commission for performance on the giant organ in Wanamaker's department store in Philadephia (he also conducted the Philadelphia Orchestra in the premiere - no date given in the notes). The score was only rediscovered in 2007. The orchestral sound is in pure Lisztian style as it is in Weiner's orchestration of Lizst's number two organ work. Bischof is more Stokiesh in his orchestration of the mighty B-A-C-H work, using striking combinations of instrumental color as well as percussion which didn't exist in Liszt's time. Whole loads of fun! Christian Schmitt (Schuke organ of the Luxembourg Philharmonie), Deutsch Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern; Martin Haselböck.
