PAUL WRANITZKY (1756-1808): Symphonies, Vol. 3 - in D, Op. 25 “La Chasse” and in C, Op. 33/2, Overtures to Die gute Mutter and Mitgefühl (World Premiere Recordings).
Catalogue Number: 10X031
Description: The Symphony in D major ‘La Chasse’ (1793) reflects the popularity of hunting music, and is heard here for the first time with the expanded orchestration of trumpets and a large kettledrum (which is why it’s a World Premiere). The overtures represent Wranitzky’s skill as a composer for the theatre, as does the masterfully scored Symphony in C major (1798) in which the composer repurposes some incidental and ballet music.
