DMITRI KLEBANOV (1907-1987): String Quartets Nos. 4 and 5, Piano Trio No. 2.
Catalogue Number: 10X009
Reference: CHAN 20231
Description: A Ukrainian who fell afoul of the Soviet authorities when his first symphony (1945) dealt with the slaughter of Jews at Babi Yar. He was rehabilitated under Krushchev in the 1960s and his legacy includes nine symphonies, two concertos each for violin and for cello, various works for violin and piano, several operas and ballets, around a hundred songs (most of which remain in manuscript), and nearly two dozen film scores. Unfortunately not even Chandos has made its liner notes available yet so we can’t discuss these works specifically. ARC Ensemble.
