Description: Offered primarily for the 1928 trio by Koffler who has previously only appeared in these catalogues on the Polish Acte Préalable label. Koffler was one of the first composers to take up Schoneberg’s twelve-tone system but even as early as this, he uses traditional forms like the sonata, fugue and rondo and the style is neo-classical and approachable. Klein’s folk-colored trio was the last work he wrote in Terezin before being deported to Auschwitz and has several other recordings and, oddly enough for a really obsure Romantic composer, Naumann’s 1883 trio has already appeared on disc (08N054 - August 2011). EOS Trio.
