Description: This disc is a real winner. Grøndahl, more famous as a conductor, gives us a concerto from 1924 which could have been written by Atterberg. The Tomasi (no date) was “rediscovered” by the soloist here in 1999 and has all the color and personality of the Corsican composer’s other orchestral works. The David (1837) wraps Weberian outer movements around a funeral march that ought to be famous. No first recordings but a great program nonetheless. Jacques Maguer (trombone), Orchestre Symphonique Français; Laurent Petitgirard
