Description: Over an hour’s worth of just plain attractive and tuneful music for this unusual combination of instruments. Juon was nothing if not a gifted melodist and the two sets of Silhouettes (1899 and 1909) come with titles such as Idylle, Douleur, Conte mystérieux, Mélancolie and Obstination to make even clearer the pictures being painted. The seven tone-pictures of 1928 have more generic titles - Pastorale, Barcarole, Burletta - but are cut from the same Romantic cloth.
