Description: An Englishman who, after several significant appointments in Cambridge, Ely and the very organ of this recording, left in 1913 to become organist and choirmaster at St. Thomas’ in New York City, Noble’s compositions are divided between traditional secular and religious English parish fare and more flavorful stuff (like the four little tone-poems on this disc) which were influenced by the American orchestral organs of E.M. Skinner. John Scott Whiteley (organ of York Minster.)
