Description: Born in what is now Lithuania, Berlin the elder spent his adult life with positions in Trondheim so you might consider these symphonies, in the three-movement Italian sinfonia style, as among the earliest Norwegian examples of the genre (although no dates are given in the notes). His son's symphony is that much closer to the Classical ideal although still short (11 minutes) and in three movements. Alexandra Opsahl (cornetto), Norwegian Baroque Orchestra; Gottfried von der Goltz (violin).
