Description: Schaeuble, who has appeared three or four times in these pages during the last decade with concertante works, writes music which is neo-classical in style, often severe and astringent, sometimes highly chromatic but not atonal, with Bartók (not surprisingly) looming in the background of the concerto (this is a recording of its first performance).
