Description: How weird is it that Holland's suite, unrecorded until 17 months ago, now has its second recording - both on Naxos. And we just had the first recording of the Bantock six months ago (02N048). At least the Bainton is a CD premiere: dating from 1922, its almost his only work which makes use of folk-song-like material - in its slow movement - as it veers restlessly between autumnal song and militaristic intensity.
