Description: This recital of Romantic French flute music, unevenly divided between the Demerssemann sonata - concert music - and the salon and/or operatic-air-virtuosity types, is particularly unusual for using pre-Boehm, conically-bored flutes by Clair Godroy l'Ainé from around 1827. Use of contemporary fingering charts and the rather detailed interpretive and stylistic instructions in Demerssemann's sonata add to the authenticity of these performances. Sarah van Cornewal (flute), Thomas Leininger (c. 1840-45 Kunz pianino).
