Description: The very first double bass virtuoso, Dragonetti has been eclipsed in the CD era by Bottesini. He wrote works for bass and orchestra too but none of them are currently available. So we have this example of the theme-and-variations type of stuff in which he can exploit the highest and lowest ranges while startling us with the instrument's ability to sing lyrically too.
