Description: With the recent releases of Stokowski's 1942 American premiere (01L106) of and of BMOP/Sound's new recording of the Exile symphony (11N011) this reissue is important primarily for the 1982 Symphony No. 50 in which Hovhaness uses the then-recent volcano eruption in southern Washington to evoke both the violent power and the haunting, mystical beauty of nature.
