Description: The reason for offering this is, of course, the Goldschmidt which now achieves its third recording (cpo in 1995 and Decca in 1997). A 1953 renovation of a lost 1933 sonata, it refers to Bach in form but otherwise sound like a lyrical Hindemith. As Lionel Salter put it in Gramophone upon hearing its first-ever recording: "But its eloquent lyricism is glorious - its fresh approach to form, its vitality and its accessibility make it a valuable addition to the repertoire, and it is to be hoped that it will be taken up by other artists."
