Description: Here, obviously, only for the Volkonsky, a world premiere recording. Born in Switzerland, Volkonsky's parents moved back to Russia in 1947 where their son went to the Moscow Conservatory from which he managed to get expelled in 1954. This was nothing since, in 1972 he also managed to get expelled from the Union of Soviet Composers and have performance of his works banned after which he returned to Switzerland. Why? He wrote "formalist" and "decadent" music, using dodecaphony, serial techniques and other horrors - as in this 1955 sonata which is highly chromatic and dissonant but not actually serial.
