Description: Krása's grotesque, witty and, finally, ethereal quartet was another indication of his prodigious talent (it dates from 1921) and is not readily available on disc right now. Not quite as rare is Ullmann's shorter, 14-minute work written in the concentration camp at Terezin which combines a rich romantic lyricism with dense polyphony in its slow section and a surprisingly heroic finale. This fairly new Czech quartet is beginning a series of such recordings for this special-import Austrian label. Schulhoff Quartet.
