Description: If you know and love Ibert the orchestral composer, you'll get the same thing from his piano works. No single piece here lasts as long as four minutes and most have the sparkling wit and good humor one associates with this composer. Three suites make up the majority of what's here: "The Stories" (1922) remind us of Debussy's Preludes which also came with titles appended (here we have "The Leader of the Golden Turtles", "The Little White Donkey", "In the Sad House", "The Desolate Palace" and six others, just to give an idea of the images evoked); Les Rencontres is from the following year and is a suite of five character pictures (of "Bouquet Makers", "Creoles", "Mincing Girls", "Shepherdesses" and "Gossips") the Petite Suite of 1943 is music for children but meant to be played by adults. Jean-Yves Sebillotte (piano). 2005 release.
