Description: Carreño wrote the majority of these piano pieces in her late teens and early twenties and they are the expected combination of virtuoso showpieces and sentiment-drenched salon pieces. However, since she was known as a particularly impetuous and tempestuous performer, one might believe that what one hears here represents her personality as well (especially the beautiful and highly-charged Ballade).
