Description: Successful as an opera composer in Italy, Gatti in 1783 became the last Italian to hold the directorship of the archbishopric in Salzburg. Sometime between 1803-06, he created this mass out of movements from Haydn's oratorio, choosing those with the required musical character and adapting the liturgical texts to fit them.
