Description: The son of the more famous Fasch was inspired to produce this 16-voice mass in 1783 by a work by Italian composer Orazio Benevoli who wrote in the Roman Palestrina style. Daniel-Lesur's rhythmic, sometimes onomotapoeic piece from 1952 and famous choral conductor Gottwald's various arrangements (all but one are songs turned into settings for choir but, in the case of the Debussy prélude, he used portions of poetry by Rilke and Mallarmé to produce a suitably evocative text for the music) make for an all-around interesting recital. French/German-English texts. Stuttgart Chamber Choir; Frieder Bernius.
