Description: Half of the 54 minutes of music on this disc are more first recordings of recently discovered Martinu, the Lyric Pieces from 1915, Evening from 1921 and Nocturne (1915) all having greater or lesser helpings of Impressionism, especially of the American, Griffes kind. Chanson triste (1911) is a late Romantic character piece into which some bitonality intrudes while the 50-second Black Bottom is from the jazz period (1927). Giorgio Koukl (piano).
