Description: Richter hated to be filmed performing and didn't know until the last minute that this recital was to be filmed. A compromise was reached which left the stage almost completely dark (Richter really wanted only a 40-watt bulb on the music) so, while we don't see much of the pianist, we see more than he would have liked us to see.
