Description: The five composers presented here engage in a dialogue between tradition and modernity which is personal to each of them, from the generous Romanticism of Salomon to the biting humor of Bentzon, and including the less familiar names of Franz Syberg, somewhat out of the limelight living on the island of Funen, whose symphony from 1940 looks backward to Nielsen, and Leif Thybo whose concerto (1959) evokes the pained and wounded heroism of such earlier 20th century composers as Elgar, Bliss and Bridge. 2 CDs.
