Description: Dubois’ 1909 piece is of chamber orchestra in form and proportions, a generally cheerful 27-minute work with contemporary Romantic echoes. D’Indy’s wind septet (1898) takes the form of stylized French song and dance while the rather unusual (is it a first recording?) three-movement, 17-minute suite for wind quintet from 1900 by Caplet is based on Persian melodies which he found in a musico-ethnological collection and adapted to the western tonal system.
