Description: Dyson's work is a cello sonata in all but name, a transcription of a cello-and-orchestra work of 1936 which is generous with lyricism and melody, rich and warm in its romanticism. All the other pieces save the Delius sonata are arrangements, the Serenade from Hassan by Eric Fenby but the rest by the writer of the booklet notes, the prodigiously talented Christopher Palmer (1948-1995), still sadly missed even 20 years later.
