Description: Cavalli's Il Giasone of 1649 (recorded by Harmonia Mundi) was completely revamped 22 yeas later by Stradella, who made major cuts in the libretto, added dances and a new intermezzo, got rid of the choir, cut the orchestra down to three or four parts and changed Jason from castrato to baritone and Medea to a female soprano.
