ARMANDO JOSÉ FERNANDES (1906-1983): Violin Concerto in E, Violin Sonata.

Description: Lopes-Graça and Braga Santos have been monopolizing the CD medium over the last decade as far as Portuguese composers are concerned so it's nice to find another one, instantly approchable too. Both these works from from just after World War II (1948 and 1946 respectively), both are slightly unusual for having four movements and both are written in a very attractive synthesis of neo-classicism and late Romanticism in which at various times one can be reminded of Debussy, Ravel, Fauré and Hindemith.
