Description: Collectors of Flagello's turbulently emotional Romantic music will be excited to have more first recordings from the same forces which brought his first piano concerto last July on Naxos. The concerto (1956) is full of the red-blooded, impassioned American Romanticism Flagello is known for (it and everything else here but the first three items in the list above were orchestrated by Anthony Sbordoni, Flagello having left much in short score pending performances) while most of the songs are even darker, more gloomy and often emotionally tortured.
