Description: With the exception of another pedagogical suite, this 72-minute release contains all of the Hungarian-Swiss composer's solo piano works and all but the Sonatine are first recordings. All but the Homage were written between 1929 and 1938, the earliest being the very Bartókian sonata (which Bartók himself, Veress' teacher, was fascinated by). All are also deeply indebted to Hungarian folk dances and melodies (many of which make up the two sets of Klavierstücke) and carry the composer's further interests in piano tone color and, of course, pedagogy. Jakub Tchorzewski (piano).
