DOMENICO SARRO (1679-1744): Eurilla e Beltramm

Description: The characters of the title have three short intermezzi in this group from 1722, inserted between acts of Sarro's grand opera Partenope. Still on the path from scene buffe to the independent intermezzo of the early Classical period, this recording gives us a chance to finally hear the music of a composer, who, though in the shadow of Alessandro Scarlatti, wrote the opera which inaugurated the San Carlo theatre in 1737.
