Description: As more and more of Godard’s music comes out, it becomes clearer and clearer what a font of music he was, how effortlessly he could produce melody and catchy rhythms, how sunny and positive he so often was: all four of these sonatas were written before Godard turned 24 (and he wrote two symphonies while still in his teens which we’ll have next month from cpo) and youthful energy and robust inspiration are everywhere, to the point that there are two scherzi in the second sonata. 2 CDs. Nicolas Dautricourt (violin), Dana Ciocarlie (piano).
