Description: Salva studied in Poland under Boleslaw Szabelski and his works reflect the influences of the school of Polish composers around Penderecki and Lutoslawski. The 1967 cello concerto is very much indebted to the former; later, Salve began to weave Slovak folk elements into his avant-garde fabric and the 1987 Slovak Concerto Grosso No. 3 is evidence of that. The solo and duo works are later, from 1989 to 1995 and reflect a turning to consonance and melody if not, exactly, to post-Romanticism. Eugen Prochác (cello), Nora Skuta (piano), Bernadetta Sunavská (organ), Juraj Cizmarovic (violin), Ján Slávik (second cello), Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra; Marián Lejava.
