Description: This liturgy of the Tenebrae is one of two left us by Giordani (a prolific opera composer before he took the position of director of the musical chapel in the Chiesa Metropolitana in Fermo in 1789). The second is more elaborate and its title reads "more solemn than those which are sung ordinarily". Soprano, countertenor, tenor and bass are the only participants and they are supported by a c. 1790 Callido organ of the make Giordani would have had in his cathedral. 100 minutes of lamentation require deep concentration so all the Latin texts are here and provided with English translations. 2 CDs.
