Description: This promises to be a sterling series for orchestral collectors given Farkas' music is almost always as personable, easy to like and good-humored as the man himself. All these works are for chamber orchestra and they cover a period from 1930 (Divertimento) to 1986 (Maschere). All can broadly be described as neo-classical in style, some make use of Hungarian folk music elements (the Lavotta suite of 1951 uses actual tunes by a famous figure in verbunkos music from the late 18th and early 19th centuries) and one (Trittico concertato - 1964) is a true virtuoso work commissioned by Gaspar Cassadò.
