WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART (1756-1791): Symphonies No. 40 & 41 for Piano, Flute, Violin and Cello (transcr. Muzio Clementi [1752-1832]).
Catalogue Number: 03M037
Reference: CD 2063
Description: Clementi's transcriptions of Mozart's last six symphonies were published sometime in the mid- to late 1820s. In No. 40, the piano is a brilliant soloist (it's almost a piano concerto or, really, a piano trio as the flute is a reticent and quiet presence) whereas it is much more integrated into the textures of No. 41. A valuable reminder of Clementi's love of Mozart's music and of his piano virtuosity. Davide Cabassi (piano), Gisella Curtolo (violin), Lucio Labella Danzi (cello), Luigi Lupo (flute).
