JEAN-BAPTISTE LOEILLET (1680-1730): 6 Sonatas for Recorder and Continuo, Suite in F for Harpsichord.
Catalogue Number: 03M019
Reference: CHR 77343
Description: "John of London", to distinguish himself from an identically-named relative, wrote galant-tinged recorder sonatas for the English public whose upper voice strove for a high degree of cantabile and were generally modelled on Corelli. The biggest work here is the 18-minute harpsichord suite, in a prevailing mixture of Italian and French styles and which reminds us that Loeillet was known primarily as a harpsichordist. Ensemble Mediolanum.
