Description: Rarely recorded Liszt? Yes! The Odes were written separately between 1860 and 1866, never published together and, in fact, almost never recorded together (there are no other currently available recordings of the first two). The first two were inspired by the deaths of Liszt's only son and eldest daughter and the former (Les morts) contains a chorus singing a short poem by the Abbé Lamennais while the latter is an expansion of the piano piece Il penseroso from the second book of Annees de Pelerinage, amounting to 22 minutes of rarely heard Liszt. Glasgow Singers (S112 - Les morts), BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra; Ilan Volkov.
