Description: This 1742 Pastorale héroïque (a genre popular under Louis XIV which Mondonville was reviving although the casual listener will not know it from an opéra-ballet or a tragédie lyrique). The composer demonstrates that his operatic vision was remarkably well-advanced in terms of structure, orchestration and melodic invention; he was clearly also aware of the advances made by Vivaldi in orchestral music. 3 CDs.
