Description: In essence, the partimento (and everything else here whatever it's titled) is a figured-bass without a top line. These are exercises for a continuo player to improvise a bass line from the very sparse indications a baroque composer left in the score for his guidance. Needless to say, there are plenty of these around which have all the charm of Czerny's basic studies but the harpsichordist here has chosen examples to which he can apply a certain amount of ingenuity and fantasy on his own part. Christian Rieger (harpsichord).
