Description: Olsson was the foremost organ and church music composer of his generation (even if most of you only know him from the Sterling recording of his only symphony) and this massive 2000-2006 series of recordings not previously available to us brings 10 hours and 11 minutes of conservative, Romantic music. Each booklet has the same biographical notes, an overview of the stylistic traits of the composiitons on each pair of discs and notes on each of the compositions theron. One can thus easily follow Olsson's stylistic journey from his youthful interest in the French Romantic organ style, through the addition of learned and original contrapuntal elements, the beginning of his interests in Gregorian chant and the increasing presence of works with significant pedagogical intent. 2 CDs. Ralph Gustafsson (organ of St. Maria Magdalena Church, Stockholm).
