Description: This large-scale Christmas Mass (c.1780) employs a large orchestra with plenty of use for trumpets and percussion. It and the Magnificat are examples of Catholic festival music designed to make a big impression on the public, although the mass also has its reminiscences of the simple peasant pastoral masses which give it its name.
