Description: An attractive and appealing collection of American choral music with the young Corigliano (1960) setting a blithe poem of the joys of youth in already characteristically appealing style. The young Foss (1950) is influenced by Copland, whose own 1947 piece is in his finest mature style and ends in glorious chords and tonal shifts much like Fanfare for the Common Man. No texts (at least it's probably for copyright and royalty reasons this time). Susanne Mentzer (mezzo), University of Texas Chamber Singers and Orchestra; James Morrow.
