Description: Musiques intimes (1891-1901), exhibit the influence of Schmitt's teacher Fauré in their Romantic sensitivity, lyricism and expressive harmony with the second group showing the composer moving into Impressionism (modality, shimmering arpeggio figurations, etc.). But collectors of decaying, late Scriabinesque Romanticism will want this for the 1908 Pièces Romantiques which date from around the time of the decadently luscious tragédie de Salomé and full of coloristic effects, shifting harmonies and unstable tonality.
