Description: After the opening Te Deum, which ponders as well as exults, we have the second group of three cantatas which make up Stoelzel's only surviving Christmas Oratorio (1728). The composer wrote over 1200 cantatas so it's good to have a few more examples of this attractive, idiosyncratically constructed music which can only help raise his posthumous reputation.
