JOHANN MARTIN FRIEDRICH NISLE (1780-1861): Septet in E Flat for Flute, String Trio, Double Bass, Clarinet, Horn and Bassoon, FERDINAND RIES (1784-1838): Flute Quartet in C, Op. 145/1, Flute Quintet, Op. 107.

Description: Nisle's work, the longest piece here (30 min.), may not even be by him - it may be his father's, which will tell you that, stylistically, it is much more conservative than Ries' quintet and one of the three c.1820 quartets which integrate the flute into the string trio, producing the equivalent of a Beethovenian string quartet where one of the instruments is a wind instrument.
