Description: This is only the second recording of the original version of this symphony which Chandos had to get special permission from the composer’s widow to record back in 2001 (06C007). It’s coupled with two short early songs from c. 1901/3, just about the time he was beginning to come into contact with English folksong (eight minutes for both), and the quite late 12-minute Varations from 1957.
