JULIUS KLENGEL (1859-1933): Concertinos for Cello and Piano No. 1 in C, Op. 7, No. 2 in G, Op. 41 and No. 3 in A Minor, Op. 46, Konzertstück in D Minor, Op. 10.
Catalogue Number: 11T033
Description: Composed by the principal cellist of the Gewandhaus Orchestra in 1885, 1904 and 1909, the Concertinos were written for teaching purposes, the first coming closest to the idea of a mini-concerto but all having virtuoso elements and expressive and lyrical central movements. The Konzertstuck, Op. 10 (1885) gives the piano equal status with the cello. Martin Rummel (cello), Mari Kato (piano).
