GEORG DANIEL SPEER (1632-1707): Musicalisch-Türckischer Eulen-Spiegel.

Description: In this work of 1688, Speer sets texts from his picaresque novel Ungarischer oder Dacianischer Simplicissimus in music as his hero Lompyn travels musically through all the countries then affected by the Turkish invasion. To this effect, the versatile composer created dances and melodies in the style of each of these almost exotic peoples. From the large number of stories, Gunar Letzbor chose two album-filling programs: the already released album with “War Stories“ (03R014) of our hero and now his “Love Affairs”, in which we witness a few spicy scenes illustrating how little the world of love has changed its face over the centuries. German texts. Markus Miesenberger (tenor), Ars Antiqua Austria; Gunar Letzbor.
