Description: An Englishman who spent much of his life in music management, Statham wrote all these short works after retiring to New Zealand in 2000. As he himself admits, this is very "English"-sounding music and could have been written in the 1950s. Thus, there's a built-in audience for it! Nothing except the 19-minute flute quartet is over seven minutes in length; think of this as a source of pastoral relaxation to dip into for a couple or three pieces at a time.4 Puertas Quartet, Adrianna Lis (flute), Camille White (oboe), Ben Hoadley (bassoon), Nicola Baker (horn).
